Let’s begin with the famous. They can live anywhere they want, but chose to live in Mallorca. It’s the perfect combination of sun, sea, mountains, city and shabby & glitz. These are the top five celebrities who chose to call Mallorca home.
Catherine Zeta Jones & Michael Douglas
Although they may spend more time near the Hollywood production studios, they still own a stunning S’Estaca property, right between Deia, Valdemossa, and the Tramuntana Mountains. It has been a love affair for many years. Michael Douglas bought the property in 1980 and has been an official ambassador of Balearic Islands since then.
The villa has plenty of space for entertaining, but the couple can also be found in nearby towns and in the Tramuntana mountains.
Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn
Although she is best known for her appearance on the catwalk, Claudia Schiffer is more likely to be seen on one of the many nearby golf courses. She is a keen golfer and has a lovely property in Camp de Mar. It’s close enough to Palma with all its amenities, but close enough to the wild outdoors, and the best golf courses around.
She seems to have found her paradise in Soller, where for many years she owned a property. Annie Lennox views Mallorca as her home and not just a vacation spot, unlike many celebrities.
Richard Branson is best known for his long-term connections with Mallorca. He once owned Belmond La Residencia estate and is now developing what is expected to be an eco-village that will connect Banyalbufar and Esporles. The site is home to three ultra-luxury villas, which are all located in the Tramuntana Mountains. The Branson Family’s ties to Mallorca seem to be strengthening. Sir Richard’s granddaughter Eva-Deia is named after the village of Deia on Mallorca’s North-West coast.
The Tramuntana Mountains are worth a visit next time you’re in Mallorca.
Rafael Nadal (or Rafael Nadal), is a tennis star who was born in Mallorca. He seems to have no plans to leave – he refused to move to a bigger training center as his career was booming. He married Maria Perello, his long-time partner, in La Fortaleza, a former fortress that has been transformed into a beautiful seaside venue.
The couple share their main residence on the Island. Since 2013, the traditional Mallorcan stone house has been extensively renovated and is often featured on Rafa’s Instagram.
